Tomorrow marks the biggest game of the year in college football… and I will be there!! #1 ranked University of Southern California takes on #5 ranked Ohio State in what is sure to be a battle royal, even though Wells is out. Even though College Gameday will be there, it also means a full day away from the kitchen, so here are some great recipes for tailgating the healthy way (assuming that this won’t be your cheat day!!):
- There’s three great recipes plus some pointers for how to keep your food from spoiling on the way too or at the tailgate.
- Here are some healthy tailgating recipes from an article from Men’s Health Magazine. (microsoft-word-healthy-tailgating-recipes-from-men)
- Having been a member years ago, I’ve got to add their game time recipes as well.
Okay, so there’s a couple of recipes that other people use. Now here are my tips:
Bring a bag of beef jerky with you It won’t go bad, it’s delicious, it’s packed with protein. If you know you’re going to be eating a meal that doesn’t have a lot of protein, just add beef jerky into the mix so you’ll get protein at every meal
- You’ve gotta get those vegetables, even on gameday! So just throw a vegetable kabob on the grill. Adding this will make you look like a more accomplished tailgate griller as well.
- Skirt steak (thin)
- Some mixed greens
- Dressing (try a raspberry chipotle dressing/sauce, it’s awesome)
- Pine nuts
